Jenny asks…

Is it possible to get Firefox bookmarks from a non working computer?

My Windows laptop doesn't work because the laptop charger Ac Adapter totally messed up the plug hole. Anyway, I have a lot of bookmarks saved in Firefox. So I was wondering if there is anyway what so ever I can get them without fixing the computer.

andre1 answers:

Remove the Hard Drive from the laptop, open your computer and plug the energy and data cables (it's easy, c'mon). After it, you'll see another HD on Computer Folder, open it and go the directory: X:Program FilesMozilla Firefoxdefaultsprofile (X is the letter of the Hard Drive), and copy the file "bookmarks.html" and paste it onto your computer folder.

C ya!

How do I stop firefox from opening many new tabs when I start firefox.?

Every time I open firefox, The "welcome to firefox", "welcome to foxy tunes!", "Welcome to coolaris!", pages come up. I've gone into Tools>Options>Main>Startup. But that had no effect whatsoever

help please

andre1 answers:

You probably have multiple home pages setup. Make the startup look like this:

Make about:blank your homepage.

I only get one blank tab when I start firefox.

How do you copy favorites to firefox bookmarks?

So my company told us to start using firefox bc internet explorer posed a threat to our security or something so i need all of my favorites. How would i move them to firefox's bookmarks???

Thanks for helpin

andre1 answers:

Internet explorer is indeed a threat and I'm glad they made you do that. Go to:
File>Import>Microsoft Internet Explorer>and check bookmarks.

When you open firefox, press bookmarks and there should be a folder labeled "From Internet Explorer".

I recommend bookmarks>organize bookmarks and copying the contents of that folder into the main file. Much easier.

One last tip, to get bookmarks in the sidebar like Internet Explorer does, go to view>sidebar>bookmarks or control-B.

and enjoy firefox. You will find it is much faster and more modern.

Tip: to customize firefox, go to the below link and get extentions. Not necessary but nice when you want to do other stuff without switching programs.

How can you tell which firefox window is hogging up the cpu?

Firefox browser often starts consuming 100% of the processor time slowing down the computer. Closing windows until you find the right window helps. Is there any way to tell which window it is that is using up the cpu?

andre1 answers:

Maybe you should try reinstalling Firefox

Alternatively you could download and run the free 'Process Lasso' which throttles back any process which is trying to hog all the CPU resource. It also keeps a log of its actions so you should be able to see which process was the culprit.

How can I change Firefox's default resolution without changing my desktops?

I just installed Windows 7 and, of course, Firefox. I decided to use a higher resolution, but this is kind of a pain in Firefox - just about every web page has blank bars on the side and the text is fairly small. I know I can change font size, but is there any way I can stop Firefox from using my resolution?

andre1 answers:

Look for the magnifying glass below right? Click that several times until you get the resolution you want, or click the small arrow and select 100%.

How do I start get rid of the "existing Firefox process" without restarting my computer?

I do not have the password of the current account I am on and therefore do not want to restart the computer. However, whenever I click the firefox icon, it does not allow me onto firefox and just displays a message about closing the existing session. Is there a way to navigate on the computer to Firefox or its settings...I particularly would like to access it's history. Help, please!

andre1 answers:

Simple. You open Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete
Then you click the processes tab and find the one that says firefox.exe.
Press End Process.

What causes Firefox to slow down or not respond sometimes?

I don't get it. My computer is not using excess disk space, I've cleaned up all unnecessary files, and I don't have too many applications running at once. So why is it that sometimes when I browse the internet, Firefox sometimes doesn't respond or runs too slow- EVEN when I have absolutely no other applications running? I used to see this problem with the Explorer in the past, which is why I switched to Firefox. And, after a period of time once again it's the same problem.

andre1 answers:

Yeah
I'm having that too.
There's a bug in the last few versions. Keep updating and report that to the firefox team so they'll fix it in the next edition.

Ruth asks…

will old firefox bookmarks work with newer version?

I have a backup of bookmarks from firefox version 3.6 and older, if i install the latest Firefox will i still be able to import the old bookmarks?

andre1 answers:

Yeah you can import bookmarks from every browser to other browser.
[You can save (export) your bookmark somewhere in your hard drive and afterwards you can import on your new browser.]
