How can I stop Firefox from automatically updating itself on my laptop?

I dont like the way it just does this itself. It starts to block too many pages even its own firefox pages.

andre1 answers:

Go to tools>options>advanced tab, click on the update tab. Uncheck anything you don't want.

I cant see why youd want to though as firefox only prompts an update when you open up firefox and even then only takes 5-10 seconds to update. You should never not update a browser ... Theyre not only important for your online security but for a better internet experience... A lot of people still use the awful 6 for a lack of updating

andre1 answers:

Install the FEBE add-on on both computers.

If you have FF3:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/febe/

If you are using FF4 or 5:

http://softwarebychuck.com/febe/febe70.html

On the old one, create a backup of all your passwords, cookies, bookmarks, preferences, extensions, history, permissions, etc.

Copy them to a flash drive then restore them on the other computer.

Also, if you want your bookmarks, history and opened tabs always synchronized on both machines, install the XMarks add-on:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/xmarks-sync/

andre1 answers:

I have a mac and don't have this problem but my mother bought a new PC with vista and had the same problem as you. I too couldn't figure out why it wouldn't let me download firefox. I had to go to cnet's download.com and find an alternative link. That worked. Hope this helps you. Here is a link if you need it http://www.download.com/mozilla-firefox/?tag=mncol

How to I install old Firefox version, when it always updates automatically to new?

I want to use an older version of Firefox because I don't like 4.0. I have the verson I want, but when I install it, it will always automatically update to 4.0. How can I just download the older version without it updating?

Thank you.

andre1 answers:

There are two ways of doing this:

First one is to uninstall your firefox 4 and reinstall firefox 3/3.6 whichever version you prefer and disable the Automatic Software Update.

1. Click "Tools", selecting "Options".

2. When the "Options" dialog box appears, click "Advanced".

3. Click the "Update" tab.

4. Underneath "Automatically check for updates to", uncheck "Firefox", "Installed Extensions and Themes", and/or "Search Engines", as desired.

5. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.'

Second option:
Download a portable firefox app. I am including a link to Firefox ver. 3.6

what is the dress code at for guys?

I work at Hollister right now and our dress code is navy blue and gray tops, blue jeans either from hollister or with no stitching on the back pockets, and white vans. I want to know if Forever 21 has a similar dress code, specifically for male employees?

andre1 answers:

What is the work environment like at Forever 21 headquarters in LA, where the corporate positions live?

I would really like to know how the corporate culture and work environment is at the corporate offices of Forever 21 in LA. I've read bad reviews on GlassDoor but they're mainly about in-store experiences. Any information would be helpful! The last thing I need is another hostile work environment, I'm a very positive person and I love that the company dedicates so much to philanthropy.

andre1 answers:

Skill?
They have accountants, managers, marketing department, secretaries, etc.
Just like any other corporate office.

How much does a head cashier start out at in Forever 21?

My boyfriend just got promoted to a head cashier position at Forever 21, where he has been working since the fall of 2008. We've been together since the summer of 2008 but I still feel rude asking him, lol! I'm just curious!

andre1 answers:

$23 per hour would be a great starting salary, but unfortunately, that's probably not where your boyfriend is going to start out.

According to numbers reported by actual head cashiers at Forever 21, the starting salary for their position is set at $22,000 per year, or $11 per hour. STARTING. With time, though, they can work their way up to an annual salary of about $35,000 per year, which is $17.50 per hour. Head cashiers at Forever 21 DO NOT earn $23 per hour, no matter how long they've been working there.

John asks…

What size would I be in Forever 21 if I was this size in Aeropostale?

My jeans in aaeropostale are 3/4 in jeggings. If i were to order shorts from F21, would i be the same size? Should I get a size 3 or 5 in forever 21 cuz they dont have 4.

andre1 answers:

I think you could buy a small size because Aropostale does not stretch as much as Forever 21 does. You could probably wear out the Forever 21s much easier so it should be tighter. Answer mine please

George asks…

How do you fill out FAFSA when transferring to another college?

I plan to transfer to a four year school starting January of 2013 (spring semester of 2013). Do I need to fill out my FAFSA differently for this year, or do I wait until next years FAFSA?

If I do have to make a change, do I just list the college I will be transferring to along side my community college, or is their some special part of the form involving transfers to another school?

andre1 answers:

Since the Spring 2013 Semester is part of the 2012-13 Academic Year, and thus relative to your 2012-13 , of course you have to denote your transfer school choice on your application if you expect to be eligible to receive funding there.

Susan asks…

How do I use my Fafsa to pay for registration?

I'm going to register for my classes tomorrow. I applied for fafsa and it said I could recieve a $5000 grant. I havn't recieved any money from it and I think I have to pay fees tomorrow but I'm broke.. Does the Fafsa info just automatically go to the school to which I'm applying to? Do I have to pay right then and there or just before the semester starts? (Semester starts in a few weeks and its a community college btw) thanks.

andre1 answers:

You ARE NOT too late! If you already filled out your FAFSA for the 2012-2013 fiscal year & it said that you could receive a $5000 grant then all you need to do is go to your selected school & take testing so you can register for classes. I'm a student right now & when I log into my school email account, there is an announcement on the board that says "Haven't filled out the FAFSA for Spring 2012? It's not too late!". The school will be able to pull up the info that you submitted on your FAFSA; the school does not get paid the grant money until after the add/drop period, which is usually 2-3 weeks after class starts. Contact admissions &/or the office; they'll tell you what steps to take. You should be able to enroll.

Chris asks…

How long does it take for a school to receive my fafsa if I do it online?

My mom is finishing up her taxes now and is going to file them in the next couple days. My first choice school's deadline to receive my fafsa and the collegeboard profile thing is February 1st. How long, after completed and submitted, does my fafsa take to get processed and arrive at the school? Thanks.

andre1 answers:

Once you finish the FAFSA you have to wait for it to be processed. This means they are taking in your information, seeing if anything is missing. It can take up to 2 weeks if you did it online (usually less). You can log onto your FAFSA and it will say processed when it has been processed. You wont get an email about the processing status, just check daily yourself. Then you wait while they put that information into a formula they used which the result will be your EFC, estimated family contribution. This number is not how much you get or how much you pay. This is just a result of the formula they use and a measure of your financial strength. They will then put this EFC and a recap of your FAFSA in a report called SAR, student aid report. From the time your FAFSA says processed to the time your SAR is ready will be up to 2 weeks (usually less). You will get an email saying our SAR is ready. You just log into FAFSA to view it. They will also send this SAR directly to the colleges you listed on your FAFSA. Those colleges which you applied to who offer you admittance will then create a financial aid award offer for you based on your EFC. The lower the EFC the more financial aid you need based on your FAFSA results. They will then create a financial aid award offer for you. This can include grants, student loans, parent loans, federal work study and aid your college offers and state offers. Usually for fall the award offers will get to you by early mid april by email, snail mail or both. Then you look over the offers from the different colleges, choose a college to attend, and then you will accept and deny each type of aid they may offer you. The way you receive the aid differs per school but federal aid is most always deposited into your college account. My daughter gets hers per semester on the disbursement dates which is about 2 weeks before the semester. These dates she knows because they are posted on her account she logs into. The college will automatically take out their charges like tuition, fees, housing and meal plan and any left over is your refund. They could mail it or my daughters college uses a debit card visa

Betty asks…

What should I do with my FAFSA application if my parents have not yet filed a tax return?

We have just migrated to the U.S 2 years ago and have never filed a tax return or any kind of similar documents. However, we are going to file one soon. What should I do with my FAFSA in this case ?

andre1 answers:

Follow the instructions on the application. Either wait to file until they do their taxes or estimate it based on their other financial documents and correct it once they file. Make sure you qualify for aid before stressing about how to fill out the application though. Www.fafsa.ed.gov

Daniel asks…

Can College Board CSS and FAFSA asking tenant to report property equity?

College Board CSS and FAFSA excluded homeowner from reporting their property equity, but two of this organization asking tenant to report their property equity. This is an unjustified regulations run by these two organizations. Especially, in many states homeowner live in over one million dollars home as their primarily residence and do not need to report their property equity when their child report on FAFSA and CSS.

andre1 answers:

The FAFSA does *not* ask about a family's home value.

The CSS Profile form asks for the parent's home net value. CSS Profile is used by about 300 universities, who use it, along with the FAFSA, to determine how much of their funds they will award a student via financial aid. Since they are disbursing their own funds, they have every right to ask about a family's income and assets.

If you feel the CSS Profile is an invasion of your privacy somehow, you certainly have the right to refuse to fill it out and send it to the college. The college, of course, will not award you any financial aid.
