How can I stop Firefox from automatically updating itself on my laptop?
I dont like the way it just does this itself. It starts to block too many pages even its own firefox pages.

andre1 answers:
Go to tools>options>advanced tab, click on the update tab. Uncheck anything you don't want.
I cant see why youd want to though as firefox only prompts an update when you open up firefox and even then only takes 5-10 seconds to update. You should never not update a browser ... Theyre not only important for your online security but for a better internet experience... A lot of people still use the awful internet explorer 6 for a lack of updating

Install the FEBE add-on on both computers.
If you have FF3:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/febe/
If you are using FF4 or 5:
http://softwarebychuck.com/febe/febe70.html
On the old one, create a backup of all your passwords, cookies, bookmarks, preferences, extensions, history, permissions, etc.
Copy them to a flash drive then restore them on the other computer.
Also, if you want your bookmarks, history and opened tabs always synchronized on both machines, install the XMarks add-on:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/xmarks-sync/

How come Firefox is blocked from downloading in Vista?
I and technicians cannot get Mozilla Firefox to load into my Inspiron 518 with Vista Deluxe Home Edition. I have over 500 Gb and 4 Gb of memories; and it gets a message that Microsoft will not allow the installation. Help!! Wghat can be done? Is there a Firefox tech out there with a Fix for Vista ?

andre1 answers:
I have a mac and don't have this problem but my mother bought a new PC with vista and had the same problem as you. I too couldn't figure out why it wouldn't let me download firefox. I had to go to cnet's download.com and find an alternative link. That worked. Hope this helps you. Here is a link if you need it http://www.download.com/mozilla-firefox/?tag=mncol

I am a very good user of fire fox but I have never come across the But II would advise that you uninstall and re install to see if this persist as it might be an installation error.

How to I install old Firefox version, when it always updates automatically to new?
I want to use an older version of Firefox because I don't like 4.0. I have the verson I want, but when I install it, it will always automatically update to 4.0. How can I just download the older version without it updating?
Thank you.

andre1 answers:
There are two ways of doing this:
First one is to uninstall your firefox 4 and reinstall firefox 3/3.6 whichever version you prefer and disable the Automatic Software Update.
1. Click "Tools", selecting "Options".
2. When the "Options" dialog box appears, click "Advanced".
3. Click the "Update" tab.
4. Underneath "Automatically check for updates to", uncheck "Firefox", "Installed Extensions and Themes", and/or "Search Engines", as desired.
5. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.'
Second option:
Download a portable firefox app. I am including a link to Firefox ver. 3.6
